We would like to offer a few rivers that we think may have been missed from this article – that are truly famous rivers that offer river cruisers countless amazing vacation memories.  We would like to add The Rhine River, The Volga River, The Douro River and The Seine River.  These would be great additions to the Top 10!!!!!

10.  The Mekong River of Southeast Asia – The Mekong offers river cruisers the chance for amazing exploration from the wonders of Angkor Wat, to the bustling cities of Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City, to the quaint and almost timeless river towns of Cambodia and Vietnam.

9.  The Danube River of Western Europe – The Danube brings old world Europe to life as river cruise travelers enjoy half-timbered architecture and quaint walkable towns as they cruise past Nuremburg, Salzburg, Vienna and Budapest as they sail between mid-Germany all the way to the Black Sea.

5.  The Thames River of England – Not the first river that comes to mind for river cruising, the Thames offers an amazing way to see England from London to Oxford and all the wonders in between. The ships available are small – but the service and experience are grand!

4.  The Mississippi River of the United States – An up and coming river cruise destination option, the Mighty Mississippi offers the North American traveler the opportunity to get their river cruise fix without leaving the country!

3.  The Ganges River of India – India is a great distance from home, but the wealth of culture and history that abounds the regions of the Ganges River is worth the effort.  The perfect way to explore India is along it’s life-sustaining Ganges River.
